Losing "Faster" Setting for Audiobooks

I have a 40gb 4G ipod running v3.02 of the software and syncing to 4.7 of itunes. Lately I've run into a rather bizarre problem.

There is a setting that allows you to listen to audiobooks at a "faster" speed. What I have found is that when I select "Faster," it will revert to the Normal speed whenever I pause the selection I'm listening to, change selections, etc.

Others suggested that I run a full restore. I ran the full restore using the latest updater. After the restore, but before I loaded any of my songs into it, the "Faster" setting for Audiobooks worked as intended -- once I selected it, it did not slip back to normal as i went in and out of menu items.

Once I loaded, all of my songs and books, the Audiobooks setting slips back from Faster to Normal when I do things such as Pausing the selection, changing the song or book, etc.. This is very bizarre. Any thoughts?
