Do the white front and click wheel parts scratch easy?

All I have for a temporary case is a Pod Shield, which is just to protect the back of the iPod and the screen of it from scratches. Is it safe to keep in my pocket or not? I'll get a case sooner or later, I just want to know if walking around with the iPod on my jeans or something will mess it up.

I've had my 40GB 4G for about a month without the case & the front has a scratch indented in the select button that continues through to the front case.

I think it came from carrying the iPod in my pocket with my keys without a case. I would def. recommend getting a case if you don't like your iPod scratched.

Yeah it will scratch pretty easily. Definitely get a case for it.

The Pod Shield doesn't cover the entire iPod, and it certainly won't help you if anything sharp rubs up against it. I'd at least get something like an exo3 skin for scratch protection, even if that serves as your temporary one until you can get something more substantial.

Nah, I sock is trash... you might as well use one of your own stinky socks to put it in. It sucks to have to take it out every time you want to skip a song. Get an iSkin which you see at the banner at the right. Quite costly for just a skin, but worth it in my opinion.

Get a skin... Seirously it's worth it.

i have the iskin eVo2 on mine untill i can find a better one, the i skin does the job, plus it comes with screen protector. which is good if u want to have your keys in the same pocket.

If I'm not wrong, most skins, including the eVo2, don't protect the click wheel.

yes, it will almost definitely get scratched.

i think one of the main problems with iPods is their scratchability.
many people disagree with this but i think that because the iPod looks so great, it being covered in scratches ruins the appearance completely.

I bought a Belkin Leather Flip, and although its a little bulky, I still think its an excellent buy because it stops the iPod scratching at all, as well as looking stylish...
