So it only works on the back, I shouldn't use it on the front?

It says it's a polish for metal, so it's likely not safe on plastics.

I think this polish was mentioned once or twice in that massive Scratches thread. I recall having read about it in the past somewhere. Good to know though, as not everyone has easy access to some of the products mentioned there.

I think there's one called 'eye cream' or something like that, that's suitable for both the front and back of iPods.

Let me tell you something about that. It works real good ruining and removing paint. :(

I used it on my guitar pedal.

Well since brasso is meant for metal, and works better on the front, the possibility of aluminum polish working on the fron should not be ruled out.

are you talking about the Ice Creme?

anyway, those designed for ipod polishers don't normally work any better than the household polishing compounds and they often cost 3~4x more

ryan, if you look at your ipod under a bright light, do you see swirls and such? or is it mirror-like?

Brasso didn't make mine mirror like but it took away the 'clusters' of scratches and smoothed it all out. I can't stop looking at it.

Here's the best I could do right now...

It looks worse then in the picture. It was probably because there was only one layer of paint.

u used mothers polish on that? and it did that?

# 20 Re: I found it the best scratch remover!
ya i used mothers just a couple of days ago. it really gets the scratches out of the back, BUT it does leave swirl marks. brasso or icleaner will proly remove the swirl marks or maybe just a polish. as for the front it removes all scratches but also leaves swirl marks. id recommend just using it on the back and using brasso to remove the swirl marks. then just use brasso or icleaner on the front.

k, well i got some brasso, and i used it to get rid of a lot of scratches, but it doesn't seem to be helping me all that much. Im not a skeptic, i fully believed it would work, but so far it hasn't. these aren't deep scratches, so i believe the problem is with the user, not the brasso. I'm using a 100 percent cotton diaper, and what i'm doing is pouring some brasso onto the diaper, and then like smearing it and buffing it until the screen is a little bit hazy. then i wait a few minutes and use a clean portion to buff it off. I spent about 30 minutes doing this, and the scratches are still there. Am i doing something wrong?

I've used mothers before to polish out paint on guitars. You have to use light pressure and a fine cloth. If you use paper towel, you will get swirls.

# 30 Re: I found it the best scratch remover!
the only solution to deep scratches:
1. dremel tool
2. rubber/fine particle polishing bit (the type dentists use to polish metal
3. felt tips
4. dremel metal polish paste.

1. Use the rubber polishing bit to remove the big scratches (this thin is amazing, it polishes down even STAINLESS STEEL to a fine satin finish)
2. use the fel ttip + dremel polish and make it shine.

works even on super hard stainless steel which the ipod back cover is NOT
