Potential Mini buyer - Durability questions
I was wondering what kind of resistance the mini has against scratches. I know that its case is metal so do scratches form easily? I just sold my 4G iPod, and in part I didn't like it because it scratched so easily due to its delicate coating. I also live in Canada where the weather here is getting to about -30C without windchill, so will it be alright? Like... maybe it won't function too well in the cold, but will it be permanently damaged?
Thanks.

Well i did my research before i bought mine, the caseis made from anodised aluminium which is scratch resistant, these scratches are the type of scratches you get on CDs. So its only resistant to them. I do not have a case to prtect my mini and i have no scratches at all, yup. What i do is always keep my mini attached to the belt clip, so when ever i put my mini down horizontally the beltclip takes the beating, overtime the beltclip will have scratches but you mini won't. Well it works for me.

yep, you should consider buying an iSkin or something similar.

The Ipod Mini is very scratch resistant and can only really be scratched by something hard like metal. However, the layer of aluminum is very thin, and the Mini will be dented if you drop it without protection.

Mine hasn't scratched at all, but they do seem to get dents.
I live in Northern Utah, in a part of the state I like to refer to as "the freezer." The Mini functions in 9 degree weather. When it was 4 degrees out it began to have issues with the screen. I have had no problems with it in the nasty Logan weather. When it is colder, I just put it in my coat or in my pocket. And I'm a student, so I walk all day with it and have no problems.
