I'm pretty sure if you live in the US you could prolly get in trouble with the RIAA for downloading songs for free, but that hasn't stopped a lot of people from doing it. I use a program called limewire, it seems to be the best I've found for P2P networks :)

The RIAA has secretly implanted a microchip into every computer that can tell when you've illegally downloaded music. If you do, it will send a signal to your iPod, which will then spontaneously combust. Within 2 minutes, Lars Ulrich will be on your doorstep and will give you a 45 minute lecture on the evils of downloading music. By the time you get back to your computer, it will have automatically dropped itself in your toilet.

In short, your iPod and iTunes don;t give a hoot where you got your music from, but if you're caught by the RIAA, whoa nelly, you'd better hope your mom loosens the purse strings for your fine.

Yeah, but if i store all the music in MY own files, and dlete it from Limewire, and then if i get caught i can sue them back for hacking into my files..? OR right after i get down putting it on my ipod can i just dlete the song from everywhere on my comp every time i d-load a song?

you can do that, just set your iPod to maually manage songs and files, that way when you plug your iPod in again and it doesn't find those tracks in your library it won't delete them from your iPod

I'm saying that if the iPod doesn't see some of the tracks that are on it in your library as well, the songs will be removed from your iPod, so you're going to have to set it to manually manage your songs, that way it won't matter what's on your computers HD all the music that's in the iPod will stay on there

From reading your posts, honestly, just don't download mp3s unless you really know what you're doing.

It's obvious that you consider stealing to be bad only because you might get caught.

Don't expect the rest of us to help you find an easy way to get away with it.

My advice is to find honest ways of obtaining music. There is a free LEGAL music link on the front page of this site. Otherwise, save your pennies and buy your music like the rest of us.

Cheers!
