The update gave me a .dmg file. How do I install?
Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I downloaded the update for my mini and the result was a 20mb+ .dmg file. I run Windows XP and there is no icon associated with the file. I searched for the extension and got more confused as I went.
What am I supposed to do with the file? How do I update the iPod? Usually this stuff is pretty automatic but nothing seems to be asking for the file nor does the file do anything when I double click it.

You downloaded the wrong update. The .dmg file is for the mac so what you need to do is go back to the Apple site and get the one for winxp.
