head units able to read text from ipod?

i was curious if anyone has tried this or knows if this does or doesnt work...

if i bought a cd reciever for my car that supports cd text, is it possible, with the right cables...to get the ipod's text to show up on the head unit?

i have a kenwood headunit that supports cd text. i bought the aux adapter for the cd changer port so i can then buy the iCable and hook it up to my heat unit...so i can listen to my ipod in my car.

so, does anyone know how or if you can get the text from your ipod to show up on the head unit?

any input would help, thanks.

I heard that Kenwood was working for an iPod adaptor, that does similar things as the Apline adaptor, currently available. But that rumor was a while back, and I haven't heard anything since. Harass your local Kenwood dealer for any possible updates.

Try Alpines KCA-420i and any compatible head unit. It will be a little pricy but its the best way to go as of right now.

i have the Apline KCA-420i with Alpine head unit.
it displays the test on the iPod.
it will display Artist and Album and Song, but nothing more.

i love it, as the head unit is awesome.
the only set-back is getting to a song.
you can search by all the things on ur iPod,
but searching by artist takes forever if u have of artists.
it doesnt scroll faster the faster u turn the knob.
thats the only thing i dont like about it.
other than that, it is fantastic.
it even charges ur iPod while playing it.

I thinks Alpine is the only one who offers it right now.

I highly doubt it is - think about how it would have to work. Even if the do have something it's only going to work on a few cars. Just mount the iPod so you can see the tracks.

CD-Text works by reading a file on a cd that has the information about the tracks in it. They art totally different technologies and your Kenwood is never going to display the info from the iPod using cd-text. I have the new Alpine CDA-9835, and my next purchase will be the Alpine iPod interface so I can listen to all of the music on my 40GB iPod photo.

Good luck with that...

There's a good idea, except I've already done that. I can see and control my iPod without moving my hand off of my shifter. I was thinking more about at night when you can't see the ipod until you activate the backlight. Besides it would just be cooler...

FTB - My Sony know's how to display an MP3 tag so I think it boils down to "where" the MP3 information comes from, the MP3 file it just read or remotely through the iPod dock connector. ;) Unless the Ice>Link Plus converts the MP3 tag INTO CD Text... hmmmm
