Decent In car solutions

Has any car audio manufacturer (if not, why not!) introduced a system that has a built in pod dock. This would surely be a winner!

I've wondered the same thing. I am surprised that car stereo manufacturers have not introduced car stereos with usb or firewire ports in them considering portable music players have become so prevalent in society.

Imagine how convenient that would be.

Alpine do an in-car solution for the iPod which lets you control it through one of their head units, but IIRC it's pretty expensive.

The Honda Element as an Aux-In port in front of the passenger seat (in a cubby area) that you can use to hook-up your iPod (or any other MP3 player).

AFAIK, there are no automakers that sell cars with built-in iPod docks. The closest you'd get would be something like BMW's solution:
