Hardwire Question, need quick answer
Hey all, I am planning on using my iPod in my car and have heard nothing but bad things about the FM transmittors. Therefore I wanna do the hardwire connection. I think I know what to do so if someone can confirm this it would be great.
#1. I have a Kenwood MPV7019 Headunit with a 13pin CD Changer Output plug on back.
#2. I take a Kenwood 13pin Aux. Input Adapter such as This One (http://www.cardomain.com/item/KENCAC1AUX) and connect it to my headunit.
#3. I then take a 3.5mm stereo to RCA adapter such as This One (http://www.cardomain.com/item/BKNF8V235) and plug that into the red/white ends of the Aux. Input adapter.
#4. I then plug the 3.5mm end into the headphone jack on my iPod and I have wonderful music playing in my car.
Is this all I have to do? If so, for about $30 I am gonna do it right away. Someone please confirm this, thanks.

Sounds like you've done your research, and your reasoning is impecable. You're lucky to have such an easy time of it, most people go through hell to car install their iPods.
I say do it.

You might want to look at ways of getting access to the line out capability of the ipod, rather than plugging it into the headphone jack...
That way you got a more pure source rather than one that is also affected by the ipods volume control as well as the stereos volume control too.

Yea, I was also thinking about going with the line out, but I am going to use the headphone jack first and see how I like the sound, if I am not satisfied I will go with the line out route. Can I use the Sik Imp (http://store.sik.com/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SS&Product_Code=03-1004) to do this?
Anyway, besides the line out question, is what I posted in the first post going to work?

sounds like it should work. only thing i'd do different is connect the 3.5mm to the iPod Dock's Aux Out. That is if you don't want to buy the Sik Imp and would like to have somethin nice to hold the iPod (I didn't really need the ipod to be charged while in the car so i went with the dock)

I was thinking about the dock too, would it be possible to measure the width of your dock? I really need to know if it would fit where I want it. The only draw back is that I can charge with the Sik Imp and not the dock...
