Actually, that's not inverted. In the second picture, the onle without the lightning, you can still see the buttons. It's some pro painting or sticker.
I thought I would like the all-white look better, but after seeing those pics not really.

All White is not all right.
It looks wrong, like something is missing.
Maybe if the text for the buttons was black or something it might get a lift. But all white just looks flat and badly presented.

You can't compare a 3G to this mod 4G. This is simply a sticker, whereas the 3G has the orange LEDs and the borders which is made is much more classy.

I think the orange looks amazing, but the white could use some work. Anyone up to photoshopping a better white 4G, maybe with orange LED lights?

It looks like someone copied and pasted the 3G wheel onto the 4G in the 1st pic, and the wheel still looks grey in the second.

Personally, I don't like the looks of the 4G/Photo iPods because of that ugly grey click wheel and the "clicking" sound of that tacky click wheel.
Even though I'm not crazy about the placement of the 3G's buttons, the 3G's wheel is MUCH better looking and feels incredible.
I hope Apple goes back to the beauty that is the 3G's wheel but put the buttons around the face of the wheel like the 4G/Photo minus the ugly grey color and the tacky clicking.
Just my 2 cents.

However if it all white and all touch sensitive so it was seamless, that would be cool. Sections of the wheel would be the 4 buttons and the middle one would be in the middle. If it was that and just a screen on top, it would be awesome, and confusing for any newbies.

Personally I like the look of the new 4G's. The grey is a nice contrast. Having it all white wouldn't make it much to look at. The pic posted by iPulse is nice, but I prefer the grey wheel.
As mentioned the click can be turned on or off on both the 3G & 4G's. I found the wheel on the 3G to be a too touchy.

I know the sound on the 3G's "clicking" can be turned off. Actually, that's the VERY FIRST THING I did when I got my 3G. LOL!
I just don't like that darn 4G click wheel. It's hideous and cheapens the whole look that Apple has strived to establish. It looks like a dirty decal haphazardly stuck to the front of a $299- $599 piece of technology. I didn't like it on Mini iPods (one more reason why I didn't get a Mini) but ti's tolerable on the Mini because the Minis are colored... but against the crisp, coolness of the white iPod, it looks cheap and out of place.
And even though you can "turn off" the clicking sound of the Click wheel it still has the "funny" feeling. Not smooth like the 3G's wheel...
Just my personal opinion and tastes. :)

All my picture is, is a regular iPod 4G and then the iPod mini wheel was put over, but it left a lil grey on the outside.

I think the indented buttons on the 3G makes it look cheap... the smooth front of the 4th is great looking, I remember showing it to a buddy of mine and all he said was "It looks great, because it's so simple"

I did a google image search for iPod and didn't see a 4th gen; and I looked each of the first 30 pages, does this insinuate anything?
