For those of you with great ideas...
Obviously I'm new here and I'm not going to go through and read all these posts to check this...and it saves me time if no one's said it. But this is just a warning:
For those of you who are designing products and just posting them on this site and don't have a licensed trademark, copyright, and/or patent...anyone can steal your ideas.
I am in the process of trying to get a patent (non iPod related), but I haven't shared the information and there is a lot of paperwork to fill out and possibly will be hiring a patent attorney. The average time to get a patent right now is two and a half years.
Anyone that is just throwing out ideas...well...there's got to be someone watching this...Apple probably. But maybe you guys just want your ideas brought to reality instead of getting credit for them. I don't know.
Anyway...just an FYI.

i don't really care if ipod steals my designs, in fact i think it would be a good thing. if they use my design, i could get an ipod with the design and features that i like

as far as i'm concerned, it is that kind of thinking that slows progress the most. fear. 'I've got an idea that will change the world, but i'm not going to share it because someone else will steal it and take the credit that i deserve.' what's worse: idea theft (rare) or idea greed. sure it happens. so does #### but it is the idea that is never shared that is the biggest loss.

No, not never sharing it. Just getting the rights to it. Copyrighting it or getting a trademark at the least. The point is TO share...just getting credit for your creativity as well.
I love how people on the internet will argue with anything for the sake or arguing.

for the sake of arguing? I'm not saying don't claim credit. I'm saying that it is a common rookie mistake (in the writing field anyway) to be overly concerned about intellectual property theft. most ideas are only catalysts, not end solution and should not be as closely guarded as they are.
