The 4g ipod photo already has colour screen and a better battery life ;)

I like it just the way it is, maybe a radio. And as iMacc said, both of the things you suggested were answered with the iPod Photo

Man, what is it with you people and radios? Just go out and buy a POS 10$ portable and use that if you're so desperate for commercials, music you don't like and terrible announcers. I prefer to load up my 4G 40GB iPod with music I either already like or music that I haven't heard yet.

well, i hope the 5G has a customizable EQ, better head phones, more games and the 3G layout...or a completely new one. Maybe they will be avalible in different colors, too.

yes games are fun but its a mp3 player not a gameboy but if you could download games onto it that would be better also a more scratch resistant body

I think that if Apple teamed up with Sirius or XM and made the iPod be able to double up as a portable satelite radio reciever that would be absolutely awesome. I also think that I'd like recording built in, color screen, and better battery live.

Oh yeah, and if you could record the radio feed that you get, that would be the coolest.

That requires carrying two different portables when it'd far more effecient to carry one. And FM radio ain't hard to implement.

I agree, if they teamed up with a satellite radio network for the iPod that would be great. I'm also looking for better battery life, voice recorder too. The iPod Photo's color screen is pretty awesome and all bets that they'll incorporate a color screen into the 5G.

I reckon they'll add a radio, improve the battery life from 12 hours to 15 hours, perhaps make it slightly thinner, and stick with the click wheel. I don't think they'll add a colour screen because that's what the main selling point for the iPod photo is, and if they add that to the 5G regular iPod then it would be like combining the two product lines.

the xm myfi already costs $349 by itself, add that to the price of the ipod, also don't forget the monthly fees, and you have how much an ipod with sattelite radio would cost. personally i would like a normal radio, i don't want to pay for radio when i can already get it for free.

FM Radio and possibly AM Radio as well would be great.. I think colour screens will be standard. I'd love a 3G layout, but that is quite doubtful.. Perhaps a decent EQ, which can be transferred from iTunes... A decent amp maybe..?

3g layout

Bit more battery life if possible

Could be a bit cheaper maybe :D

# 17 Re: 5g ipod?
16 hour battery life, the same design from the 4g but integrated to touch sensetive, instead of gray click wheel. lighter and maybe better sound output.

Sirius satellite radio is hot. if apple and sirius teamed up, the combination would be better than howard stern.

i read in a review that the myfi was not as good indoors as the original recievers for car and home systems.

# 21 Re: 5g ipod?
here we go:
-color screen
-video player
-visualizations on now playing
-letter-pad pop-up on screen for notes, renaming, new playlists, and, searching
-longer battery life
-built in mic
-touch screen, but the click-wheel's still there, for those afraid of getting it scratched, etc
-no gap between songs
-etc, etc. I could go on like this forever

Any improvements made to the iPod G5 should be purely with an aim for improving the 'mp3 player' capabilities.

I believe Apple should concerntrate on purely improving sound and offering better audio format support, not to mention gapless playback. These are all things they should do to improve the iPod as an mp3 player, which is what it is. I was actually disappointed that Apple are going along the route of making it a colour photo holder. It feels that it's now going along the route of competitiors, whereby the emphasis is not on a high quality mp3 player, but a storage device and frankly there are far better storgae devices out there and for far cheaper with more gimmicks on them. Asthetically, I don't think there is much they can do to the iPod because in my opinion it pretty much reached a perfection with G4. Any severe changes to the design of it will be due to completely new feature, which may or maynot change the iPod as a music player into something else entirely..

I agree man, iPods are supposed to be for music, not games. Who actually plays the games? I really like the click wheel, it would be nice if they made it white though (so it matches). I don't get why a color screen would be so good, when you hardly ever look at the screen. I can't think of anything else. It is so stylish already, the 4g rocks the house man.

# 29 Re: 5g ipod?
I definately wouldn't want to watch pictures or videos on my ipod, but if i had the ability to connect to my tv through a "Dock Connector >> AV" plug, that'd be the greatest. Imagine 60 gb of tv shows and movies at your disposal. Buut of coarse this is secondary to the mp3 player. It would probably need a lot of ram though so that might not happen without getting rediculously expensive.

Now a simple graphic equalizer can't be that hard to implement. The least they could give us is one of those cheap

Adjust Treble Here >>
Adjust Bass Here >>

bars. Instead of that rating system (the stars that come out after you click the action button three times) it could go to bass and treble. Maybe even a real EQ.

Better battery life I guess is all I would want.
The radio would be cool but I don't mind.

well, it's been talked long time. Apple will apply patent technology 'fall-detecting' for 5G ipod first. so disk in ipod won't be damage at all. second, as we know, it got a lot of scratches. they would change material from polycarbonated to aluminium adonized like mini. third, it would have longer battery life, possibly color screen(so you can see album art), and like cellular phone, you can easily detach, attach battery pack. fourth, size would be changed to little smaller. finally, you could transfer photo images with direct connection from digicam.
