importing .omg files
I had over 1,000 songs in Sony's .omg format on a PC. Thanks to Son'y copyright (over)protection, when I got a new PC, I copied them onto a DVD, but they will not open on my new PC. does anyone know how i can get these songs into iTunes. They are defiitely on the DVD, as my PC indicates that there are over 1,000 files on the DVD. Thanks for the help!!

That's Sony's proprietary Atrac3 format. Totally closed and you're at their mercy as to playing the files.
Can you install Sonic Stage (Sony's music player) and play the files?
I think Sonic Stage can burn the files to CD, and then you can re-rip them to an iPod supported format (AAC, MP3 etc...). Doing this will lower the quality of the audio tracks - but at least you'll be able to get them on your iPod.
Atrac3 - what an abomination.

When I think of all the time I wasted mucking about with SoundStage/OpenMD I want to cry. What a piece of garbage. The only good thing about Minidisc is that it's bloody cheap.
