Has anyone here modified their iPod photo to display their own costum graphics?

Anyways, I don't have my iPod Photo yet. Will arrive this saturday. Well I did what they stated and I only see images in black and white. How do I get the colour ones? Do you need to have the iPod photo connected once first to be able to get the GUI pics of the iPod photo?
