Your PDA/Handheld computer

I am using a Messagepad 120 right now. I love it, but I want something newer. Like maybe a new iPaq...

Palm Vx, have a PalmConnect so I can use it on my TiBook, now I just wish Palm Desktop X did not suck so much.

I parted with my 2100 (+keyboard, 32 mb ram etc. etc etc.) and I am left with my 2000. Its enough for my needs until someone (pref. Apple) comes out with something better than the MP (two or three years from now)

There are a couple other stops, I think Shreve Systems might have some MP130s for $100-150. You won't find 2x00 Newtons but from eBay or people.

I just got a 2100 by "accident". I bid 150 on ebay and won it. Oops :) I need to pick up a couple of things for it like a mem card and possibly a keyboard. Maybe an ethernet card too. Who knows? I'll see how I like it. Any recommendations for accessories or programs? TIA

I wont own one until Apple makes a new kick ass Newton X.

Handspring Visor Prism. Not exactly an upgrade; but it has a new screen after I managed to drive it into the edge of a desk at school.

Palm m500 w/32MB SD card. I love my Palm, and I will keep it until the ARM-based Palms come out, if they ever do. I started out with an Ice Visor Deluxe, then upgraded to a Visor Pro, and then my current m500. I have a Performance Service Plan at Best Buy on mine, so if even the slightest thing goes wrong I get a new one. I can also upgrade to a newer and/or better model by paying the difference. My last Palm had a crooked screen. :D :rolleyes:

I enjoy playing SimCity (the REAL thing, ported to the Palm by some software company), other games, listening to MP3's and watching movies on my Palm (through the Piezo <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> )

Mine is a Newton Messagepad 2100, I enjoy taking notes with it (the screen is awesome for text input, it takes quite a bit of abuse, unlike any palm's screen), get on icq and jabber.

it's save to say that my Newton is very useful, instead of just a Gameboy with really bad screen.

I've got the Samsung I300
Palm+Phone from Sprint.
It works well with my G4 450 &
IBM Thinkpad (work).

Hmmm...if you really wanted a Handspring PDA (shudder), then you should have gone for the Visor Pro, which is about the same price as the Edge, and has the springboard expansion slot built-in. Plus it has 16MB of RAM (unfortunately you can't expand Visors like you can Palms - hehe I just stick an SD card in mine and wham! - I now have 40MB of RAM).

Off topic - is there any reason why i cannot use the IR on my Pismo to transfer files bet Ipaq and Mac - it talks to my palm, used to talk to my Psion, my Nokia. There must be a reason...

I don't want to get into an argument about Palm vs. Newton (since the Palm would clearly win hands down ;) ), but if you people would just give graffiti a chance, you would notice how nicely it works!! It may take a few weeks or more to get used to it, but once you are you will enjoy it. I use it all the time on my Palm, taking notes and writing programs. No problem. In fact, it is much better than the Newton OS (even version 2.x, so you don't start using that to helplessly try and defend the Newton) handwriting recognition, which translates Hello into H3110 and stuff like that (I have very good handwrting too, and have used it a bunch on the Newton, and it doesn't work quite as nice as graffiti).

I think you would be better off arguing with the wall about the color it's painted. He's made his mind up. But we all know that the Newton HWR is the best available. Now, if Apple would just release a new one that's thinner and had an adaptable HWR like Via Voice has for voice recognition. That would absolutely kick a$$ (stupid filters :rolleyes: ) I still love my Newton. I made a new book with newton press out of an article I have to read and can drag and drop right into my notes. Brilliant! I swear, Apple and their bad (technological, not business) decisions...
