Possible to put more than 256MB in a Rev. C iMac?

Apple's specification state that 256MB is the maximum.

Has anyone had any luck with sticks larger than 128MB?

yes in the Rev. A imac I have a 256 + the original 32... 256/256 should work great, just be sure to get a low profile module for the lower slot...

The largest Apple reseller and service center in northern Indiana told me that 128 was the most it would take. He said that sometimes 256 works and sometimes it didn't. He suggested I play it safe. Then he sold a 128MB low profile SODIMM for $40.00

Lessoned learned, always pull a chair up to the Genius Bar and have a chat with the other patrons before making any decisions :)

My gf's Rev C tangerine iMac currently has 288MB (32 and 256MB SODIMM). The 256MB module is a kingston chip that fits in the slot closest to the CPU, and it works just fine.

For what its worth i've been running 384 megs on ram in my rev. D imac for some time now without any problem. 256megs in the top slot and 128 in the bottom.

I replaced the original 32MB with 128MB, plus the 128MB I added when I first purchased it, that's 256MB. I hope that'll do. I'm going to install OS X this afternoon.
