DVD regions?

I know it sounds a bit dumb but I've never needed this before now.
I read somewhere years ago there was a fix you could do to make your powerbook read any region DVDs. Since I don't want to pay UK prices on all my DVDs this would be a great help if anyone knows how to do this.

As an aside:

Has anyone tried the new firmware posted on the above mentioned site for the iBook's combo drive? If you have could you tell me whether it was successful or not?
