Acrobat Reader 5 Problem

I'm ready to pull my hair out!!

When I click a link to read a PDF online, I keep getting the following error message:

[quote]An internal error occurred

and

[quote]An error occured while attempting to load the plugin PDF Viewer

This is on a fresh, newly installed system, on my PowerBook 550. I had this problem before, but it's still happening right after reinstalling everything!!

Any ideas on what I can do, short of throwing the goddamned thing into a wall?

Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 is garbage. I have gone back to 4 because I was getting the same problems. Also it's twice as big as 4 and even after I had 5 work it still kept freezing and crashing.

Solution? Go back and delete ALL of 5 and reinstall it. Make sure the plugin is copied into your browsers' plugins folders.

Or just get a version 4 and deal with it. ;)

PDF files are great...but the reader sucks.

I've tried this on a couple of machines now, and for some reason the default Adobe Reader 5 installation always screws up on me. I delete everything, download the installer from Adobe, and everything works fine.

Frickin weird.

You never mentioned if you were running X or 9, but if you are running X, use Preview to view pdf files. It is far superior to the bloatware Acrobat Reader 5.

If you are running 9, I agree with Artman, use Acrobat Reader 4 unless you need the new features like the form completion stuff.
