does anyone konw how the macs will work on a network with a linux box as the server. and also would it be possible to netboot from a linux box?

Depends on what the linux box is serving. If you mean files, then it depends on the type of file server. If you mean that you have a linux gateway/firewall/router, then yes, it'll work a-ok.

Not possible, sorry. The closest thing would be to run an XWindow server on the Linux box and see those apps on the Mac. That's no problem.

MacOS X "Netboot" can only be done off Macs.

This works as long as you install XFree first..
