iBook screen is red!

I hooked my iBook (Dual USB) up to my roommate's 19" CRT monitor via the VGA connector and was surprised to see my LCD turn red.

I did have a DVD in the drive, so I attributed the screen's new red tint to some lame-brained copy protection scheme. In any event, the image on the CRT was fine.

After I disconnected my iBook, however, the screen stayed red, even after multiple restarts. What's going on here?

Hmm... something similar happened to me in the pre-GM builds of 10.1 where the DVD player would make everything everywhere turn weird shades of blue-green. It stuck after restarts as well. I ended up wiping and reinstalling (since I was using a beta build, I was pletly prepared for this). I've never seen it happen in the GM, though.

Hey, I fixed it! The problem was a corrupt preferences file... I trashed ColorSync prefs, Display prefs, and a couple of others. Whichever file it was, my screen is now back to its old self.

I should have added that I was running OS 9.2.1. When I rebooted under my 10.0.4 install, the screen was fine.
