Question about CD-RW Internal Drive
I have a question regarding CD-RW internal drives. Do they all work in Macs, or do you have to have the drivers for each one individually?
I currently have Toast 5.
I found a great deal on this drive and I was wondering if it would work in my Beige Powermac G3.
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance guys! :)

# 1 Re: Question about CD-RW Internal Drive
A couple months ago I bought a 24x10x40x Lite-On internal cd-rw drive. I have a beige G3 tower so I just installed it where the cd-rom drive was. Had Toast 5.0.2 and booted up everything was fine. I've burned cds fine on it. I got the drive at Best Buy and it was came in a Digital Research Technologies box. This drive is the Lite-On and they are selling for $99.99 at Best Buy now. The drive works perfectly in Macs.

# 4 Re: Question about CD-RW Internal Drive
Errr, I got this baby http://eshop.macsales.com/AddToBasket.cfm?ID=3707&Item=SANCRDBP1500P for 169.99 wish I got it for it's current price. Anyway, if you have a G4 and you replace your CD-RW and have an Internal Zip Drive installed you WILL have conflicts. There is a patch somewhere in http://www.xlr8yourmac.com
With 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 works like a charm, and this drive is superb! I burn a whole 700MB CD in about 3-3.5 minutes, compared to 9 minutes with the OEM one. This one is a Sanyo, but my Mac and I supposed all Macs recognize it as Generic BP1500P. But that's OK. I recommend OWC superfast shipping.
