iPod w/ PCI firewire?

I have a G3 tower (biege) with a Orangemicro USB/Firewire card. Works great with iMovie & Firewire smart media reader. Anyone try a similar coniguration with an iPod? I hate to spend $400 on a toy & have it not work. Saving up for a new powerbook, but would love the iPod ASAP.

It's my understanding that iTunes will only export music on Macs with builtin firewire ports. I would luv to add a firewire card to my beige G3 and connect to an iPod.

I actually read that it works fine as long as it the ports are powered. Can't find the link though.

I'm using the Sonnet Tango USB/FireWire card with no problems...it charges the iPod just fine.

Yeah, it just needs to be a powered firewire port.
