Apple iPhone On (Far) Horizon

Talk This Way

Apple redefined the desktop, laptop, and MP3 player. The next insanely great thing: an LCD arm cuff that includes a PDA, wireless Internet, a mini iPod, and, of course, a phone. The iPhone bracelet's motion sensor allows you to scroll through apps and files with the flick of a wrist; its clasp holds a digicam for use during video calls; and its wireless ear clip lets you listen and speak to callers. And everything can be done via voice recognition or touchscreen. Talk about the right call.

Cool!? OS X on a 1.5" screen is cool !? I think not. And the motion senstitve scrolling would be hell in less than perfect conditions. I still like the idea on theapplecollection.com with the Cinema Sunglasses. The funny thing on that same site: someone did a CGI render of a 12" Powerbook in 2001. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> Interesting...I wonder if that is more than just luck...

It's a 21st century Dick Tracy watch. There's nothing COOLER than that!!!

I would actually like to see Apple get into the Cell Phone market. Good old Jonathan could come up with a revolutionary design and change the cell phone market forver. That's what I would like to see.

Except, of course, a Firewire3200 optical jack at the back of the head. Who needs monitor?!?

The next step: fiber to the home.
The step after the next step: fiber to the skull. :D

Screed ...Mind you, Old Apple could rear its head and try to sell an ADC port instead.

That's retarded. The only things screens that small are good for are as interfaces to controls, not content.

Barto

PS Hence the reason a mobile/pda will never work - the more useful it is as a mobile (smaller), the less useful as a PDA.

its not OS X its X^2 haha

and although i'm not defending the design you wouldn't need an UI as much because everything would be voice controlled

the wrist flicking part WOULD be annoying though

Based on the copy, it's NOT wrist sized but "cuff" sized. Bigger then watch, smaller then a breadbox.. er, PDA.

I think it'd be a good style for a phone. I can't wear stuff on my wrist, but many people would love that. I've got a T68i, and it makes a good pocket watch, since the screensaver shows the time.

As for a PDA, the T68i is not an acceptable organizer. It's just too small, and data entry is too cumbersome. We still need the iTablet (Newton form factor).

Yeah, i'm not to shabby about this concept or design..i think FROG desing has something similiar that they did with motorola, <a href="http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/moto_wearables/" target="_blank">http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/moto_wearables/</a> and the other ideas/concepts from WIRED <a href="http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.04/fetishwish.html" target="_blank">http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.04/fetishwish.html</a>
are just concepts...Im sure apple would not sho off their desing or ideas anyhow!

Forgtetting that it's too small, that the screen would be warped to contour youir wrist...

Surfing the web would give people arthritis, twisiting my wrist forward, twisting it backward, twisting, oopps, twist up, damn it too far, twist it down, wtc

Voice recognition? That would only work somewhat in an office. You can walk down the street speaking commands because you'd end up turning around and screaming to the citizens to shut up. There would have to be a wireless mic really close to your mouth.

Not geting my money. Too coool and not enough function.

Oh come on guys. Who doesn't want to walk down the street talking to their watch? Can't you see how cool that would be? ;)

I made a mock up of an iPhone concept here: Stupid angelfire won't let me link to pics ( http://www.angelfire.com/mac/outsider/home.html)

I like the iPhone watch...but motion sensitive? I like the voice activation, but if it's too noisy you should also be able to type the number. I also don't think there should be a built in PDA...it would just be to clunky to have around your wrist...maybe if it just had a digital calculator and an adress book. But that should be about it. Also, a build MP3 support...SWEET! It would definatly get my money.

What do peope think of this technology for input?

http://www.digitwireless.com/

I went through some of the demos and it is much easier to enter in long text messages with a keypad like this.

I made another iPhone mock up based on this keypad. howdy (http://www.angelfire.com/mac/outsider/home.html)

Funny mockups, but nothing Apple would ever crap out... still, I'm quite confident that there's an iPhone in development, it would be massively successful, and reinvent the meaning of a mobile phone for the masses. And it'll be beautiful. And quite expensive. And then totally get copied, but oh well. :)

I to believe that Apple will be releasing an iPhone, but it will be something completly revolutionary. I will be something that looks and works great, that stirs the imagination, And that will be truly.... Apple.

Nice jobs on the mockups, but I don't see it coming from Apple.

I think that anything Apple comes up with will require a computer to make operational. Sure, it'd be great to use Bluetooth to sync up your iPhone and iCal, but other phones out there already have this feature. You dont' need a computer to use a cell phone.

Now an Apple-branded digital camera, that's another story.:smokey:
