For your PMac pessimist view, I think even if Apple comes out with G4s they will have a faster system bus and use DDR. So maybe that a positive pessimist view? :)

I doubt that Apple will add USB 2.0 until it is heavily adopted by the rest of the industry. FW is already there for fast connections. USB 1.0 works OK for printers, cameras, keyboards and such. Finally, there are almost no products that use USB 2.0. Even if you had it you couldn't use it. There is no need for Apple to be on the leading edge of this one.

man, I'd buy that "optimistic" 1.4Ghz G5 for $2399 in a heartbeat if that were released...

Didn't MWSF 2001 happen almost a year ago?

:D

Those pessimistic ones are exactly what I expect to see, except with 256 RAM in the middle models.

I really think Apple will go with USB2.0 instead of 1.1 (or whatever it's at).

If 2 is no more expensive than 1 to implement why not? It's fully backward compatible with 1 so if there is no big price difference it would be foolish not to.

pessimistic all the way...

Im thinking MAYBE we will see DDR ram to keep people quiet for a while longer. But besides that, nothing. Maybe a slightly faster dual setup (dual 933s)

We will also have 500Mhz G4s again for another year... because Steve feels like.

I just hope a new iBook doesn't come out in January... caus I'm about to buy meself one.

2% = Photoshop, Quark Xpress, Dreamweaver...

;)

I'd rather be a pessimist ("realist") and be pleasantly suprised if Apple exceeds my expectations, rather than be an optimist and be sorely disappointed when Apple falls short of my unreasonably high expectations.

I say 1Ghz or higher G4 PowerMacs and a 1Ghz G3 iMac. It will be the "Ghz Expo". :)

Yeah, that's a good point.
