10.2.4 and internet apps

Ran the 10.2.4 update on a PowerBook yesterday, and all seemed fine. However, I quickly started to have one hell of a time accessing the internet.

I'm sure it's not my cable that's the culprit... all the right lights are on, etc. I'll be surfing along in Safari or IE, and suddenly pages will stop loading. Sometimes it will start up again in a few minutes, other times not.

If I quit the app and restart it, it usually connects again just fine. A few times it wouldn't do it though, so I'd put it to sleep, wake it up, restart Safari, and bang - internet access again.

I'm getting a similar experience with Mail and Entourage.

In a 5 minute look around the net here, I see that a few other people are reporting similar problems... anyone here having any trouble with this? It's getting very frustrating...

The last time it happened half an hour ago, I had to quit and restart Safari 3 times, then it was fine from then on.

WEIRD.

Any ideas?

Just had the same as you describe. I thought it was my wireless net, my ISP maybe, my computer, anything. I had my iBook crash on me yesterday during the installation yesterday (though I think it was done), so I thought maybe it had something to do with that. Anyhow, you're not alone murbot.

Might be worth repairing permissions: I've just started a run (didn't do it last night after installing 10.2.4) and there's all sorts spilling out...

Actually yes, that's my next thing to try.

I did reboot, but haven't done the permissions yet... hoping that helps.

I'm hoping they get better after a few more restarts, because it took me a good 3 or 4 minutes for Finder to start after my first restart...

I ran into something similar on Wednesday, but it was under 10.2.3.

I'm not sure how similar my situation is but this is what happened to me:

* Webpages & QT streams no longer loaded
* AIM still worked, I even talked to someone about the situation
* After 30 minutes, everything worked perfectly with no apperent reason

I found this to be rather annoying, but not as annoying as my cable service dropping almost everyday from about 5:15 pm until just about 6:00. Now that was annoying!

I'm on shaw cablein BC and have had similar problems this week in 10.2.3 and yesterday with 10.2.4...during large d/l will just stop and rest, if I cancel and restart or start another d/l stream works fine (while other remains stalled)

did a speed test at dsl reports and got my worst result ever sub 200 K/s.

I am not sure if its the QS733 or Shaw
