vt100: unknown terminal type.

What does this mean? I get that message when I type 'clear' in the terminal. Curiously, when I ssh into my Cube server (on 10.0.4) clear still works, even using the same terminal window. Clear used to work without a problem, but it's not lately. I don't recall changing anything. Can anyone help? TIA.
