3/ Deus Ex II - heck yeah!, the original was awesome!

4/ Command & Conquer series - why the heck havent they released any but the original for the mac? it was a great game! my classmate just got the new 3d one and says its pretty cool. Somthing makes me think none of them will ever make it to the mac... :(

On a side note, although I know its already on its way, WC3: TFT looks pretty sweet. Cant wait till it comes out!

Games I would love to see ported In no particular order:

Star Wars Galaxies (this could happen depending on EQ sales)
Battlefield 1942 (EA will never port it)
Half Life (with mods) (Sierra will never port it again)
World of Warcraft (this could definitely happen)
Deus Ex 2 (would be excellent)
Halo 2 (we can dream, right?)
GTA Vice City (wouldn't hurt)

# 6 Re: 7 PC games you wish ported to osX by 2004:
I have simply given up on waiting for Mac game releases and decided to build my own "hobby" box for PC games (even if they were released on the Mac, the performance still sucks because of X86 engine optimizations). This way I have a Mac laptop as my regular computer, and a super-fast (yet stationary, hot, and maybe a little noisy) PC for playing games on, and maybe doing the occasional surfing.

Considering my 800MHz 15" PBG4 cost about US$3800 (after tax, shipping, and everything), it's almost amusing that I can build a top-of-the-line PC for about a quarter of that.

Blizzard has hinted at this game several times. Dont worry! :)

Personally I would really like Homeworld, or at least Homeworld 2...

4) Unreal 2
5) Unreal Tournament 2003

Counter Strike? What i will never understand is why people want that crappy game ported or even why pc counterparts love it. I have played it many times and i think its decent but not good enough to play more then a few minutes. Now Deus Ex 2 would be much different... Hell Yes! <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" />

1.arx fatalis
2.theif series as mentioned above :)

make the cd's hybrid :)

actually i do all my gaming on a pc on win2k
it would be nice to have osx/linux ports
apple needs to define a std api much like
directx....right now some games (like mohaa)
are a complete nightmare on a powerbook with a
mouse plugged in (osx's mouse accleration makes
it unplayable with no way to disable unlike win2k)

the other thing i noticed is vendors are very
slow to update their drivers (eg logitech)
so maybe apple needs to be a little more involved
in this much like m$ does with their ddk's

I hate to say it, but so did I. And it was cheap. Will I switch over, hell no. But I just got sick of not having the diversity of choices, and having a game come out the same time it's sequel does for the PC (NOLF and many more). While I don't play that many games, when I do play I want the best experience, and right now that is just not the Mac (although the Mac is the best experience for just about everything else). The cool thing, it is a dual boot system so I can check out Linux at the same time.

One last thing, building a PC is also a good reminder of why you love the Mac in the first place. I recently sent this short email to my friend who helped me build the damn thing.

motherboard ... $250
processor ...... $300
graphics card ... $400
waking up at 3am on my friend's couch to the words "Fu%!ing Windows Drivers"...

I have a PIII 600 with a Radeon 7500 card that serves as a minimal game machine. I would rather have the following games ported to Mac so I can play them on my Dual 1Ghz PM.

1) Command and Comquer!!!
2) Battlefield 1942
3) GTA III and VIce City
4) Combat Flight Simulator
5) All LucasArts games
6) Deus Ex II

And other EA Sports titles with full support from EA (ie. at least mention the Mac versions on their site).

# 23 Re: 7 PC games you wish ported to osX by 2004:
heh... regarding my "Half Life/Counterstrike" pick. I'm actually in agreement to the guy who said "Counterstrike?! WTF?"... my main reason for choosing wasn't personal preference so much as marketability.

That damn game is STILL really really popular. I was at a gaming LAN recently (yes I brought my pc...shhh). And despite all the newer games like BF1942, UT2K3, etc guess what was being played more than anything. You guessed it. Counterstrike. Go figure. :/

I play 1 with loop to Loop through VPC, but it slow under X (on a Beige G3).

Next year (I hope) when I get a new PowerMac, I will be buying RollerCoaster Tycoon II to run in VPC.

Under Mac OS 9 with VP3 is runn decently

I would raise my hand, but after repeated crashes and system re-builds I just said "To Hell with it." Now I'm all Mac... and one game... well, at least my GPA has gone up.

# 30 Re: 7 PC games you wish ported to osX by 2004:
Hmmm

1) Total Annihilation 2 (when it comes out on PC in two years).
The original is on the mac and far outshines the C&C series, and you can forget about StarCraft.

2) GTA:VC Heck it generates a lot of sales for the PS2, it would have to have clearer graphics and none of the bluring to hide the fact that the crappy PS2 hardware can't handle it

3) The new RTCW when it is out.

4) Halo, although Metroid Prime is a far better game.

5) Battle Field 1942, especially when the 970 is out, should run it easily.

6) Burnout 2 with internet play.

7) F Zero GC with internet play.

IF these were ported, damn this would make macs the gaming platform to own. :smokey:

# 31 Re: 7 PC games you wish ported to osX by 2004:
Seven, you say?

Halo. I know it's not out for PC but it eventually will be (and it'll be available for Mac too). In fact I'm considering selling my PC (AMD 1700+, Radeon 9100, 512 MB RAM) and using the money to buy an XBox, Halo, a small TV, and an extra controller. I dunno if I want to though... the XBox will be old news fairly soon, considering it's been out for a year and a half already.

(for Bungie/Halo fans, you might have heard that the number seven appears numerous times throughout references to their games)

For the Mac, though, I think GTA 3 would run quite well on my 800 MHz iBook. Not really great but playable.
