Anyone Successfully Used Sputnix to get AG Music files?

I've downloaded the thing, made my AG account, added the name and pass into Sputnix prefs, logged in (sort of)...but I'm pretty much stuck at this point.

How in the hell do you find / download the music? Is it supposed to be just like an FTP client where you connect and then navigate through the list of directories? Or do I have to somehow use it in conjunction with their web site.

I'll be damned if I can figured this (unsupported) thing out...

been using nonstop for a week,

confused me a bit at first.

1.) open Sputnix and make sure it enters "standby". occasionally it won't. quit and open and try again.
2.) when in standby go to <a href="http://www.audiogalaxy.com" target="_blank">www.audiogalaxy.com</a> and make sure you're logged in.
3.) when logged in at the site enter what you want to find in the search field. results will come up.
4.) items with green bars next to them are available. click the song, choose the bitrate and then the satelite (sputnix) will search for the song @ that bitrate and download if available. choosing "most popular download" of the song usually always gets the song.

Applenut thanks, but when I get sputnix to standby then go to the audio galaxy page I cant seem to log in.... any ideas ? When I type in my username and password in it takes me to 'Your home page' and asks me to log in - and endless loop !

Ive been missing my music since my lazy admin cut off my limewire with a new firewall.

Cheers

I'm a little unclear on something...when you say "login", you mean via Sputnix right? The only way I can achieve "Stanby" is to "login" that way...although I thought I read in the About Sputnix box that you *don't* want it to say standby?

I'll try your method and see how it works...

Standby is just meaning it's waiting for something to download I believe.

He released 0.2a version privately (sorta) Get it here

Is that more recent than the Version Tracker (.1b) download? Their site seems to be down.

that's odd. what browser are you using? I'm using IE 5 in OS X with no problems.

login to sputnix. get standby. that's good. now go to audiogalaxy.com and login there and search for your tunes. after adding a few songs to your search list it could take a few minutes to find someone with that song and begin the transfer

Well I've got the .2b version installed now...but when I try to login the Sputnix status thing constantly jumps between "Connecting to Server" and "Connecting to Master Server" - sort of an infinite loop it appears.

As far as the audiogalaxy site, because of the cookies in my browser, it basically logs me in automatically (because it goes straight to my "home page)". Anyway, I tried clicking on one song and the web page (not AG) said something like "you're in the queue for this song, but it's not downloading yet." Meanwhile the Sputnix status thing is still going haywire the whole time...never said "connected" or "standby".

I'm using the .1 version and that happens at times. you have to quit and open sputnix again. when the servers are busy it locks up like that in that "infinite loop" and you need to restart the app

If it says it is in your que then everything is working correctly, just wait for it to start downloading, sometimes this takes a while. I usually que about 10 songs and let it go all night, typically they're all done when i wake up.

My question is how can i make it download more than one song at once, it never starts a second download until the first is done, even though i set my prefs to a max of 10 simultaneous transfers.

sputnix is not capable of sharing music yet. AudioGalaxy allows you to download 1 free song without sharing and gives you more download spaces for each additional song you share

The latest version does allow you to share mp3s

Update: the unusual "loop" behavior I was describing yesterday was caused by some kind of "test code" the develop had mistakenly left in the program. He removed that code and has posted .3b (no other changes) to Version Tracker.

So much for testing code...3b exhibits the exact same behavior. Loops between a connecting state for the server and master server...but never connects or goes to stanby. Guess I'll try again with .4b.
