"Do Not Disconnect"

I got a brand new 4G, and hooked it up to my WinME computer (thanks to everyone who helped w/ that). It works perfectly using the winamp plugin, I just have one question. Every time I transfer music, it displays that "do not disconnect" message. After I eject the ipod, the screen does not go away (i get confirmation on the PC that it is disconnected). I end up waiting a minute or so and unplugging it anyways. Everythings works fine after that, all the songs i put on are there, its just that that screen makes me worry. Anybody know anything about this? if not, im fine, just wondering.
tech specs: USB 1.1 (yes it works fine) 4G 20gb apple pod using mac opener & ipod plugin, Windows ME

Do you disconnect from the icon (with the green top) at the bottom right of the screen (it displays 'safe to disconnect')?

Our 3G, 4G and Mini that are connected via Firewire to XP computers sometimes take what seems to be minutes before they indicate they are safe to disconnect. I think it's something to do with how frequently Windows polls it's attached devices.
Have you just left it connected to see what happens?
