Will a 3rd gen dock work with a 4th gen ipod?

I'm thinking about buying a 3rd gen dock used to save some money for my 20 gig 4th gen ipod. Does anyone know if it will work?

I personally have a mini, but, I believe it will NOT work, as the 4G is slightly smaller, and therefore wouldn't fit perfectly in. Get a second opinion as well, but that what I think :)Jackus at 2007-11-15 16:03:00 >

it will fit and it will fit well. they are backwards compatible. even though they are smaller, its really negigable unless you're talking about a dock for the 40 gb 3g. Anyways, the ipod doesnt actually use the plastic for support, it uses the plug. in any case, a dock bigger (no matter how much bigger) will work for the 20gb 4g.will1087 at 2007-11-15 16:04:00 >

no dont do it!!! it will explode into tiny fragments and 3 ghosts will appear out of your ipod and yell at you...I did this... bad idea..
