Is I-Trip legal to use in the uk?

I just did a google on I-Trip2 from griffin, and found this - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2003/07/31/uk_bans_ipod_radio_addon/
?
Is the still the case?
Do many people carry on with using it regardless?

From the discussions on here I believe it is "illegal", but too I think they are widely available. I would not be too worried. In my city, riding yoiur horse down mainstreet at 10:46 pm on a the second tuesday of December if you are wearing a hat is illegal. Well it is not but there are many silly laws that are not enforced.

If you read the Register piece it states at the end of the article:
The bottom line, says A M Micro, is that using iTrip is an offence akin to operating a pirate radio station. If caught, the user faces prosecution, as does the dealer for selling him or her their iTrip. Not surprisingly, A M Micro wants to avoid that.
So, AM Micro obviously believe it is illegal to sell the iTrip...
