Should I buy digital camera link or media reader?

Hi - I have a Canon Digital Rebel (Eos300d). I want to use my ipod to store pictures on so I don't have to buy more compact flash cards. I am totally stuck on whether to buy the Belkin digital camera link or the Belkin media reader.

It seems that they both suck when it comes to battery damage they inflict on the ipod.

Which one should I go for?

p.s. I read the reviews and i'm still really confused.

Welcome to the lounge.

You should buy what you want. But since you can't think for yourself, I will tell you to buy both.

Don't mind toothpaste, he gets cranky when he's drinking (glug glug). You've show you did some homework, so I'll see if I can help you.

I have the Media Reader and love it, but it is a bit slow. I have 2 512MB compact flash cards, so one can be read, while the other is in my camera. I have had very good luck with this system, so I have had no urge to switch.

The Digital Camera Link, I hear, is faster than the Media Reader, but can be a bit buggy depending on the model of camera being used. Plus you can't use your camera while you transfer photos, no matter how many media cards you own.

Both use batteries and effect the battery of the iPod, though not much more than playing music, so I wouldn't worry much. Hope that helps.

Ahhh see i'm really glad you asked now. I missed a subtle point! I did not cotton on to the fact that you can not use the camera while the digital camera link is transfering but you can when using media reader!

By the way, I too am using two 512k cards. I could have bought a 1gb card but bought two cards so that i could transfer one while using the other.

Do you know which of the two systems has the biggest impact on ipod battery life (and how much more impact it has than the other)? I don't mind how much battery life is taken from the camera since my camera batteries last ages and I have two.

Both use the iPod's battery by accessing the hard drive, but I have no personal experience with the Link. I do know the faster the media card you own, the faster the transfers will be and therefor less battery use.
