Dual Firewire Cable?
OK, same idea as the firewire\USB cable but with firewire on both ends.
Does anyone know if there is one available?
The problem is my laptop only has a 4 pin firewire, so I cant charge from it. Also it only USB1 ports so the firewire/combo cable isnt much use to me.
I want to be able charge from the firewire cable to the dock and connect via firwire to my laptop as well.
If anyone has any other ideas I'm listening.

I'm not sure, but could you use a powered firewire hub (http://www.2ndchancepc.co.uk/speclink.php?from=vendors/OrangeMicro.html&url=http://www.orangemicro.com/hub.html)? Connect the iPod to this with your dock->firewire cord. Then, connect your laptop to the hub. I would think this would then provide power to charge your iPod and allow you to transfer songs over firewire as well. I'm not sure about this though.
