Wanted: Mac OS X Software to Transfer Music to iPod Without iTunes
I am looking for software to transfer music from my Mac to my iPod without using iTunes. Every piece of transfer software I have looked at only transfers from the iPod to the computer and not from the computer to the iPod.
I have a new 4G 20GB iPod connected to my G3 333MHz iMac via USB 1.1. The iPod shows up on the desktop when connected via the USB cable. The iPod is not recognized by iTunes 4.6 under Mac OS X 10.2.8. I understand I have to have 10.3.x for iTunes to recognize the iPod through USB 1.1.
Since iTunes places music in hidden folders on the iPod, I can not manually drag music from my iMac hard drive to the iPod and have it playable by the iPod.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think any software like that exists for the Mac. Why not upgrade to 10.3? And I really doubt that there is any software developer out there willing to develop something like that since you're in the extreme minority.

Hi;
I wasn't really looking for any custom software development. i was just hoping someone had addressed this issue in the past.
I was running a G3 333MHz iMac with a broken CD drive. An external USB CD-RW drive has been my main disk drive. Without the internal CD drive, I had no way to upgrade from 10.2.x to 10.3.x. I can not boot the OS X Install CD from the external drive.
Since my post, I have spent the money to have the internal drive replaced. I have also placed an order for the boxed retail version of 10.3. I had been hoping to hold off until 10.4 was released next Spring. Oh well. :(

Well, you could always take your iMac to the local computer store, and have them take out the hard drive, put it into a Power Mac, and install 10.3 on it through their computer. Will work fine if ya do that :)

Audion by Panic Software will do it. Its not as feature rich as iTunes, but it has some nice features.
