If I run corral all dupes and then delete that playlist..?
If I run this corral all dupes script then delete the Playlist of those dupes, do I lose those songs from my library?
Thanks.

Isn't that the purpose of the script? To gather the dupes together in one location so you can easily delete them.

Well, yes, but; I was under the impression that if you deleted songs from a playlist they were still in your library somewhere. No?
My concern or fear is that because the corral all dupes I ran was the old one and not the newer one with "Perl" whatever in it, as Doug puts it, that it took forever, only corraled 48 songs, and I know there are more dupes than that, and therefore when I trashed the "dupes" playlist I was fearful that I lost songs that may not have really been dupes.
Thanks for responding.

Deleting the playlist won't delete the songs, It just puts them together in the playlist so you can see them in 1 spot. I don't rate my music, so I use this trick. I corral all the dupes. Look at it to see which ones are really dupes, then I select the dupes, give them a 5 star rating, then go back to the library and sort by rating. The 5 star songs show up at the top all together. I just then highlight them and delete them from the library. I guess you could use other fields like grouping and change the grouping to something that wouldn't show up as a searchable item like 'deletethesesongs'. Once you do that search in the browser of the main library for deletethesesongs and only the ones with that phrase in the tag should come up, then just hose 'em :)

jcv44wf: The latest version of iTunes (4.7) has a built-in feature to locate duplicate songs. Not sure howit compares to Doug's Applescript that corals duplicates, but it works well enough for me.
