These are great little skins. I didn't want to get an iskin or an exo/exo2 because IMO they are just too thick and take away from the portability of the ipod. The exo3 looked too thin to offer any protection. The exo3x looked like the perfect compromise, so I picked up the asphalt and snow colors. The cases fit very snugly on the ipod and look great. The ishade fits almost perfectly, it is only like 1/4 of a millimeter too big, but its barely noticeable, and i don't think you can see it from my pics. My only complaints are the usual silicone case complaints- it picks up a lot of lint. i can live with it though. I tried the baby powder, and while I love the smoothness of the wheel, i like the grippiness of the silicone when i am holding it, so right now I just put it on the wheel.

I'd give the exo3x a 5/5, a really great case IMO! Definitely pick one up if you have a 4g, it offers a great compromise between slimness and protection.

That does look cool-too bad I didn't see it before I ordered my iSkin [which took more than a month to be shipped-and I still don't have it >:(]

Looks good. I had an iSkin before for my 3G, and thought it was too thick. This sounds like it might be the one for me.

yeah what is with that little loop?

# 8 Re: Lajo Exo3x Review (For 4G iPod ... Lots of Pics)
You could just cut the loop off with a razor blade in 2 seconds, and it wouldn't look like anything was cut off.

i think they are originally put on there to use a lanyard string thing with it. Kinda stupid...

# 10 Re: Lajo Exo3x Review (For 4G iPod ... Lots of Pics)
Lajo has these things called Bungees and they're basically an add-on "bungee cord." You clip one end to a pocket or belt loop, and the other end goes around that Exo loop... if you ever drop it, your iPod is saved. (Supposedly...) I cut the loop off of one of my exo3's and it looks just fine :)
dwchin at 2007-11-15 15:47:41 >
# 11 Re: Lajo Exo3x Review (For 4G iPod ... Lots of Pics)
as dwchin said, they are meant for the bungee cord thing. its meant for if you're taking it out of your pocket and you drop it, the ipod won't hit the ground.

redflea: if you're talking about the exo/exo2/exoflp cases, the swvclip i've heard is not that good. i haven't heard good things about iskin's belt clip either. lajo's "bclip" is supposed to be a little better, but the best is probably the twist clip.

# 12 Re: Lajo Exo3x Review (For 4G iPod ... Lots of Pics)
It's really too bad about the twistclip not working with bare iPods or exo3 (and maybe exo3x) skins. At least, I'm pretty sure they don't work with bare/exo3 iPods. I've heard some good things about Lajo's twistclips. Does anyone happen to know if there are plans to release a modified twistclip that would accomodate something that's not a 2mm thick skin?

according to the lajo 4g cases spec sheet, the exo3x is supposed to be compatible with the twistclip.

Can you order straight from the Lajo website? I've been trying but the "submit" button isn't working...any sites other than the ones listed in this thread...seems that snow/ice is backordered on both of those sites...

i would advise ordering directly from the lajo site: www.lajo.biz

only 9.50 per exo3 case, and he offers volume discounts. 5$ DHL shipping.

Maybe it does, but if you look at the full specs sheet (http://202.153.110.46/Xskn/features/4g_ipod.asp) from lajo, you'll see that Lajo also listed the exo3 as working with thie TwistClip, which I'm pretty sure is not true. It's just too thin :(

whoa. I just got an iskin, and seriously man, if the extra 2mm is not portable enough for you, you mine as well get an ipod mini, or some small little mp3 player.

Absolutely! It holds the form of the iPod nicely because it's so thin, I think. It fits very snugly, so there's hardly a worry about the fit. Once it's on, it doesn't really budge anywhere, and I've put it in my pocket many times, too. I would post pics of mine, but it's not a 4G, so I'm not sure if my pics would be of any value to you. Plus there are a ton of exo3 3G pics out there already if you do a search :)

well each person's needs are different right? if 2mm cases are portable enough for you, great, get them. im not stopping you. if i have the option of getting the exo3x which is the perfect size for me, why wouldn't i get it?

the main reason i got an ipod is portabilityand storage. i need at least 20gb, the 4gb ipod mini (or 5gb rio carbon) would not be enough space for me. if i used the iskin, i'd be better off getting a zen touch/dell dj, because they would be the same thickness, have more battery life and don't scratch as easily. IMO they both look good too and are fairly easy to use if you aren't a dumba** with electronics (btw am i allowed to swear here??). just my two cents.

Hi,

Can you guys post a link to a twist clip? I've tried to search without much success.

Also, how come only http://thinkdifferentstore.com lists the 40GB version of the eXo3x?

Any other sites where I can buy a 40Gb 4G eXo3x? Thanks a lot for your help, after reading this thread, I think I am definitely going to get a Lajo, the iSkin seems too thick.

Wait nevermind, the link that was posted above was for eXo 4G.

How about these ones http://thinkdifferentstore.com/index.php?cPath=103_122 ?
I think these were the original topic (with the covered Click Wheel). How come they don't seem to carry 40Gb models?

I'm keeping an eye on these, they look so much better than the iSkins. Is the twist clip very bulky? What's the ease of fitting it in/removing it from the eXo3x?

# 29 Re: Lajo Exo3x Review (For 4G iPod ... Lots of Pics)
Hi everyone,

To answer questions for you...
40GB cases Are NOT available yet. As far as I know, Lajo has only started producing the exo3 and exo3x for 4g 40 GB iPods... I am not sure why ThinkDifferent has them in stock... Maybe I am wrong...

As for twist clip...
Right now it is ONLY compatible with 2mm thick cases, be it evo/2, exo/2/flp...

Smaller Twist clips are supposed to be produced but I am not sure of the release date of these...

The twist clip is relative to the clip for the iPod mini from apple. It is bit bigger, and a bit thicker. (because it twists...)

-Hope this helps some of you out...

On the Lajo website, it shows the Exo3 with the iTrip on it. In the pics, it looks like an iTrip wouldn't fit on the top. So, will an iTrip fit on the top of an Exo3 or not?

Man, Lajo updated the features sheet, and it clearly says that the twist clip isn't compatible with the exo3x anymore. I was looking for a 1.2 mm skin in which I could "belt" my ipod with a tough clip that doesn't snap...

Any suggestions?

there aren't any, unfortunately. your only choices are to wait and hope lajo comes out w/ something for the exo3x, otherwise, get an iskin/lajo skin 2mm cases and get a twist clip.

# 35 Re: Lajo Exo3x Review (For 4G iPod ... Lots of Pics)
After having used a http://www.everythingipod.com/searchresults.tpl?command=search&db=dbs/products.db&cart=109954735114382326&RESTYPE=player&eqAVAILdatarq=yes&woPLCOMPATdatarq=3G%2C3GMINI&x=6&y=17&max=8&startAt=17 DLO Podsling Leather Carryall Case on my 3G iPod, I moved up to a 4G iPod and found myself in a quandary regarding the case. My Podsling was beautifully made of red leather, and it was feminine, but brassy (in its vibrant color) and practical (it had a little pouch for the earplugs) and perfect--but the big hole for the wheel was about 3/8 of an inch off from where it needed to be for a 4G iPod. I wrote to DLO, but they said they had no intention of re-fitting a Podsling for the 4G.

Therefore, I tried to modify the Podsling to fit my 4G. I used scissors to cut off the part of the case that surrounded where the four little buttons would be, and I tried to trim the screen cover as straight as possible. I intended to have a shoe repair add some stitching to keep it from coming apart. When I took it to the shoe repair, they said that it was small enough that the sewing machine might not be able to fit in it to do the stitching.

In the meantime I knew I needed protection, so I checked out skins. I was so overwhelmed by the I skins and exo skins and different names and different firms that it took forever for me to choose a skin for my 4G 20 gig iPod. I finally chose a Lajo Exo Skin, in large part because I wanted protection for the click wheel. The http://202.153.110.46/Xskn/index.asp Lajo site was great, because out of all the sites I visited, it offered every possible combination of clip/flat back, color, size, coverage /exposure of clickwheel, thickness, etc.

After the smooth, elegant leather of the Podsling, it was hard to accomodate myself to the Exo's silicone with all the dust and lint and dog fur adhering to it. I like that my new case will glow in the dark if properly primed, but I rarely sit in the dark with strangers whom I can impress that way! <g>

For me, the biggest frustration has been dealing with the click wheel. I can barely control the iPod at all, using the covered click wheel. It is a total pain. I would recommend that unless you have unusually nimble fingers, you might do well to buy a skin with a cut-out clickwheel, and then add a donut or some similar product for clickwheel protection. Or maybe potential Podsling buyers could join me in nagging DLO till they update their Podsling.

# 37 Re: Lajo Exo3x Review (For 4G iPod ... Lots of Pics)
I just got my exo3 about 4 days ago. Here is my impression:
It does the job of protecting the iPod, sans screen, from scratches. You can get an iTrip to work on it, but you have to hold the iTrip down to the iPod because the top does not allow a snug fit between the two devices. Basically, it is the cheapest case (~$15) out there, but you get what you pay for. I plan to cut off the worthless little rubber nugget on the side and also cut the top a little to allow the iTrip to work properly.

# 41 Re: Lajo Exo3x Review (For 4G iPod ... Lots of Pics)
a bit, but its not too bad. if you're trying to scroll at the fastest speed possible (ie. going from A-Z ASAP), then it is slower. if you put some baby powder on the wheel though, it smooths it out and scrolling is fast again.

We're talking about exo skins with a covered clickwheel. Apparently some folks manage to use them; I, however, found it impossible to do. I ended up cutting out the clickwheel cover and giving the whole thing to my daughter. She loves having a skin that will glow in the dark.

Now, with regard to the little rubber connector on the side--I think it's a good idea. I bought one of the bungees, and I agree that they are small and strong. Even if I didn't have the bungee, I'd use the connector for some sort of personalization tag or bead.
I prefer this case to the competitor's one with the odd contoured lines on the front.

For those of you who leave the iPod on a desk, or carry it in a lint-free environment, mayabe this sort of case works, but after getting used to smooth leather, I went berserk picking off the lint when I tried to use the exo on the iPod kept often in my purse.

The Lajo website is horrid. It's a website for technology bits, and it should be, well, technological. I'm digesting, I mean, well, you know..... ANYWAY, I ordered one of these tasty little buggers for my own brand new 4G hp 40 G today after rather painful exhaustive research on the different rubber covers. I finally got the Lajo something or other because the "drop seat" seems dock-friendly, but the loop thingy is awful. Tell me really it's a one-second nip of the old Xacto knife and the wart is removed! My pod does not deserve to have a wart just yet.

Also, the extra-special deal today was no shipping if you spend fifty bucks, and everything's half-off, so that's 25 actual dollars, but 50 worth of Lajo, so I got the plastic zip case that everyone hates...is it really so bad?

Please say no. TIA.

IS this typical, or would a xskn2 work better?

The iShades do not work with the Exo3, only the Exo3x, Exo, and Exo 2. The Exo3 is too thin to hold the shade securely in place. If you need screen protection, your best option is to buy some cheap PDA screen protectors and cut them to size.

I finally got my skin and clear zip case and stuff. You guys weren't kidding about Lajo's shipping being slow.

The skin is pretty nice, and so is the clear zip case. Unfortunatley, I can't get my ipod in the zip case, it's the teeniest bit too small. I think it would fit a 4G 20 though...it's just the slightest bit too small for my 40.

Also got the clip. Not the Twistclip, the other one that attaches to the back of the skin. Don't like that either and want a twistclip.

What I have and don't want: clear plastic case, allegedly for 4G 40, clip and extra button for clip.

What I want: another skin, twist clip, extra ishades

Got anything you want to trade?

I love my Lajo skins too! I recently purchased from them and they sent me a zip case for free. I also had a problem because the Twist clips don't fit every case that I bought so I wrote to their Customer Service and they sent me new cases free-great! But because they are in China I had to wait awhile-also the Customer service woman that I spoke to-didn't have such great english so sometimes it was hard to understand-but still good.

I also just bought the InMotion3 speakers and couldn't dock my ipod with my skins on and so I modded my case by taking a single hole puncher and punch two holes each above the feet of the case and cutting a slit between the two holes with an exacto knife. It works perfect! I only wish that I had cut the slit straighter so it would look a bit nicer but, who cares when the case cost like $10 at the 50% off sale that Lajo had awhile ago.
It worked out great so now I can dock it and keep it protected.

I bought an exo3 from an Ebay store, and the guy sent me ishades free, and told me it would work with the exo3 despite the fact that lajo's compatability chart says otherwise.

the exo3 was great at first, fit snug, and held the ishades in place well. but 2 weeks later, the case has stretched and is sleightly baggy on my ipod. too floppy to hold the screen protector in place.

ive decided that it is pretty much a cheap piece of junk, and i think i might try and iSkin with one of their screen protectors and wheel covers next time.
