Will This Work? Cheap Ipod Mounting Solution For Car
well, all of those expensive ipod mounting solutions like the ice link and such have a little black box between wires...i was just wondering what exactly that does? i was wondering if i could use this setup:
i have a kenwood kdc-5019 which has a 13 pin round female cd changer in the back...
i want to use this cable to convert that to rca (by possibly just using the audio ones and not the video?) http://www.projectorsuperstore.com/product.cfm?id=091304-110304
or a similar 13pin-rca adapter
then i would use a simple headphone-rca male cord like this
http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=42-2550
and plug it into the rca females from the previous cord...
finally i would buy the sik imp cable like this
http://www.sik.com/imp.php
and plug the headphone jack into the audio out from the sik imp (at the lower right of the pic)...so i'm wondering if this would work or if i need that little black box that's in all of those expensive adapters...
and also, if i use this, i was under the impression that the sik imp makes it so u can control the ipod using your cd head unit...is this true? would i still be able to control it using the ipod also? because if i can't how wouldi change playlists and such?...
and finally, since the regular ipod docks have a line out, would plugging the male headphone cord into the dock also allow me to control the ipod via the cd head unit?...then i could just get a regular car adapter for the back of the dock?...
altogether this would cost about $50 with the sik imp and about $30 if i could use my dock and a regular charger...so would this work?
if not, what's the cheapest way to be able to control the ipod w/ the headunit and by the ipod as well (so i can change playlists) or can you browse those w/ the headunit?...
thanks...
