ipod bmw

I have just installed the ipod adapter into my bmw x3, everything seems to working well except that I am getting a lot of background noise, it sounds like hissing. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? I ist the way I uploaded the music into the ipod originaly, or do I have to adjust the equalizer settings on the ipod? I would appreciate any advice.

Do you have the 3G iPod or the 4G iPod? The reason I ask is because this is not the first time I've heard of hissing problems in the background with the 3G iPods (I think there's even a forum here that discusses this). I don't know if this has to do with something with the wiring for the 3G iPods, the actual files in the iPod, or if the 3G iPod just wasn't meant for BMWs. How and/or where did you get the iPod kit installed?
I have an X3 myself and I'm thinking of getting the iPod adapter that goes in the glove box but I wanted to know how the quality is so far and if it's really worth the time and expense. As a matter of fact, here's the forum that discusses this:
