Whats the best earphones for an IPOD

HEY this is my first post..Just wanted to say hi to my fellow ipodlounge people..

Anyways, yeah..I'm looking for some new earphones. Particularly a earphone with good sound and quality. Basically, I'm not satisfied with the earphone I have now, it's not convenient when i go work out or go running with it. I need something that fits nicely and feels nice.

Thanks :)

There are whole legions devoted to headphones. Start here, but if you go, I warn you that you will spend lots of money :) http://www.headfi.com/

Give us a price range.

Do you want canalphones?

Something you can get sweaty?

Do you want something that will fit in a pocket or is something you can throw in a suitcase fine?

You can easily spend $300-$500 on canalphones. Several hundred more on amps. Thousands if you like. You can also spend $100 or $50 and get decent sound.

General consensus around these parts for "in-ear" headphones is the Shure E3's. They are more expensive than most similar headphones, but they seem to be worth it.

I currently have Shure E1's, and love them. I see some E3's coming my way very shortly.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the E3 is the general consensus. If anything, the E2 is probably more popular and even I (who strongly prefers the E3) would agree that the E2 is the better value.

Futzy, what's the point in upgrading from E1 to E3? I'm guessing the sound improvement would be marginal. The E3 certainly looks nicer and is probably more comfortable, but it seems like a lot to spend on what is essentially an updated version of the same product. If I were you, I'd save up for some E5s or Westone UM2s. That way you'll see some significant sound improvement.

ok not to be mean to a noob or anything, but there must be at least 100 other threads about this very topic. in the future please try to use the "search" button as much as possible. thank you :)

i personally think that you could get some pretty good earphones at a place like target or wal-mart for under $30. all you have to do is search. i would also try ebay, always a good place to look!!

I just received my Sony EX71SL (white) and I don't even own a iPod yet, I have an old panasonic discplayer and they are awesome. I don't need to activate XBS because the earphones already have enough bass.
