Shure e3c Buy and Returns?

I'm thinking about buying the e3c and i've read all the reviews, but reviews don't really mean anything since all ears were created equally.

So i'm wondering is there a place I can order them and if I don't like them I can return them?

I did these with the EX71's from circuitcity but they don't carry the e3c's.

Thanks

When you are in an airport, try them at InMotion Pictures (like DFW Airport). The people there are usually very courteous and willing to let you try them out with a set of disposable ear cushions.

I tried them out at American Music. I know there are a few of those around the surrounding cities.

They are great phones though.

If you order them from J&R, they will let you return them within 14 days. I just asked them for their best price, and they let me have them for $130 plus 4.95 shipping.

Brookstone sells them (full retail) BUT, you have 60 days to return them for a full refund no questions asked.

That doesn't make much sense seeing as how Amazon has it listed for $180 and anything above $25 qualifies for free shipping.

From EarphoneSolutions:

Shure and Etymotic Earphones Return Policy
In-Ear Earphones - You have 30 days, from the date you place your order, to return the earphones with all sleeves, accessories, original package, etc. Your refund will be for the purchase amount less original shipping/handling cost, less a flat $15.00 restocking fee per set to cover shipping to and from Shure / Etymotic for cleaning, repackaging and any manufacturer's restocking fees.
Shure E5c / E5 and Etymotic ER4P, ER4S, ER4B - A 10% restocking fee will apply.

J&R doesn't have a restocking fee...if that matters to you.

no prob with returning - just make sure its within the time frame the store has set. The Apple Store took mine back after 14 days with NO restocking fee. Just gave back my money and I was on my way.

ecost.com has E3cs for $127 and they offer $10 for fedex overnight shipping. I got it less than 24 hours when I ordered it. I'm shure almost every store has some kind of return policies.

I think it does what $170 ear-phone should do. The sound is clear and IMO it feel rich too. Some people say the sound is kinda muddy but I find it not much of a problem.

Muddy? are you confusing the "say" with the e2c? I know lots of ppl who have the e2c say that.

But ppl have given the e3c nothing but praises....

No, I meant e3c. Some poeple actually said that in this forum. But of cause, I'm totally happy with my e3c with foamies. I think its clarity is amazing compared to that of sony and bose and lows and highs are quite distinguishble which some might find differently.

Well... they are the best sounding earphones I've ever heard. However, my ear canals must be miniscule because even the smallest, softest (including the foamies) sleeves I try hurt my ears :(.

edit: nevermind, I was trying to put them in at an odd angle. Man, once you get the hang of these, they are wonderful! I can put them in quickly and comfortably and the same goes for removal.

The theme here is 'balance' for me. The frequencies feel very balanced in context to one another (vs. the Sony tradition of jacking the highs and lows). This compares to my experience with some nice Sennheisers.

The bass is tight and clean, never absurd (see: Sony). The Mids are warm and articulate and exude a certain "breathiness". The highs are crisp but not shrill. They do feel a tad subdued. This, however, might be the effects of me getting over a recent head cold.

The most obvious of the e3c's pluses: isolation and separation. This is par for the course on a set of in-ears, however the shures excel in this area. With the e3c's properly inserted you really can't hear anything going on around you (which, as mentioned elsewhere can be dangerous depending on where you are and what you are doing).

As I recently corrected, they are comfortable (they wrap around the tops of the ears and have a snug-fit cable sheath in the back to keep everything where it should) and light (the lightest in the e*c series).

One complaint: An 'elbow' jack. The iPod got it right when they chose a straight jack for their headphones. When trying to manipulate your iPod the cable tends to sorta swing around a bit due to the jack design. Oh well... a minor quibble.

edit2: nevermind AGAIN... the elbow jack is worse than I thought. It causes the earphones to disconnect quite easily from the iPod when in your pocket.
