go to radio shack (or your local equivalent) and get a 1/8" stereo plug to RCA cable. It should be less than $5. You can hook this up to any home stereo with either the dock, or directly from the headphone jack.

Hi, it's me again, I was just wondering if you put the iPod on the dock and connect it to the power adaptor and play it on the speakers, will it use up battery life? Or will it just use the power from the dock?

if the dock is plugged into the wall, it wont drain your battery. The speakers should plug into a wall, or a reciever, or just your ipod.

Muji in the UK do cardboard picnic speakers for ??20, you just plug them into the iPod's headphone jack. Not great sound, but adequate for small spaces...
