AAC on older iPods

Just out of curiosity, how can I get older iPods to use AAC? I have an older 20GB iPod and it accepts mp3, wav, aiff and vbr mp3. Does anybody know how I can get it to accpt AAC files? Thanks in advance! BTW, the iPod is for Windows.

2nd generation ipods support AAC, not sure about 1st generation...

Why don't you just try it - rip a song in itunes in AAC and transfer it to ipod.

I think all generations support AAC, but only the third generation iPods support Apple Lossless (so far).

All iPods support AAC. With 1G and 2G's, you need to have firmware 1.3 or 1.4.

Music file formats are OS independant.
