Should my smart playlist update on iPod?
I mainly use my iPod in the car on the way to and from work (total journey time of around an hour). To help the rotation of tunes, and to stop me hearing the same ones over and over, I've set up a master playlist of tunes I like to listen to while I'm driving, and a smart playlist that uses the master list as its source. The SPL's criteria are set as:
* Match all
* Playlist is <Master driving playlist>
* Last played time is not in the last 5 days
* Limit to 1 hour selected by random.
This works great on iTunes; whenever a song is played it drops off the list and is replaced by a new one. Now comes the problem. On my way to work I sometimes go to the gym, where I also use my iPod. After using the in-car SPL for the drive, then playing a different playlist while at the gym, I reloaded the in-car list only to find it had the same songs in it as before.
I understand that the iPod doesn't treat SPLs the same way that iTunes does, but surely the songs I'd played while driving should have been removed from the list when it was reloaded.
Any ideas? This is driving me mad...
