Battery ran out while connected to PC
I'm really really sorry if this is an annoying question but I've had a quick search around and can't find the answer to my question.
I left my iPod connected to my PC while it was updating. When I came back, stupidly, I assumed it had finished and disconnected it without checking it had a tick on the front. When I disconnected the tick came up and it said safe to disconnect. Ooops.
The battery level indicator was dead low - I wonder if this is why it hadn't updated?
Now when I connect my iPod to my PC iTunes doesn't start up as usual and when I start it, it doesn't recognise the iPod. I tried 'safely removing hardware' but it doesn't work and so I just disconnected anyway.
Now it says (after the iPod has been removed) 'iPod Not Readable' and that I need to reformat.
Should I reformat?
Thanks in advance...

Have now sorted this.
I just left the iPod on charge for a bit and when I connected it started up iTunes as normal.
Obviously connecting depends on power level.

actually, removing the ipod without ejecting doesnt really do any damage UNLESS files are being transferred, if it was simply idle, ur in luck, if a file was being transferred, then that little bit of data may be messed up, if power ran out, then either that bit of data is messed up or nothins happened, seriously, removin ipod without ejecting isnt that serious! (something only happens once every 1000 times.., and when it does, format ;) )

Are you using usb? Don't you have the Y-cable? The firewire end connectes to the AC adapter so you can charge while syncing.
Nah, I don't bother with that as synching only takes a few seconds - just got distracted this time! Won't do it again!!!
