iPod doesnt show up as removeable drive in Windows 2000

Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I just bought my first iPod excited not only to use it for music, but as a file transfer system between computers (not stealing music).

However while my iPod worked perfectly with iTunes, it didn't show up in My Computer as a removeable drive. It worked on my wife's Mac, but then it didn't work on my buddy's PC.

I took it back to the apple store and explained the situation. After lame attempts to tell me that my firewire port must not be compatible and that I should contact applecare (BS), I ponied up the "restocking fee" and got another one. Side note - I was one day past the 10 day return period...bogus. Anyway while the clerk was ringing me up she explained to me how I just didn't understand how everything works and that I'll be sorry because I'm wasting 30 bucks by paying for a new one, only to have to contact support again.

I get home and ten minutes later the new iPod works like a charm. (How does a charm really work?)

Anyway I just wanted to share this story with you because I searched the lounge and google for days trying to figure out what was wrong with no similar stories. Sometimes a bad apple is just that.

BTW, the old screen was jacked too - rainbow stuff all over it. After I hit my head on my ceiling from jumping with glee about the new iPod (i'm very very tall), I called the same clerk to share the good news. She wasn't impressed and said they would restore my old one and sell it to someone else - I wonder if that's what they did to me?...I AM a sucker.
