iPod USB Problem

There is no Ipod fansiteor forums in my local place. I have some questions with my pod.
I bought a ipod recently(3gen 15g), I cannot connect it by Usb2.0.
My os is winxp, mainbroad chip is Intel 865(support usb2.0), and I reinstall the usbdriver, the problem still in existence.
why?

Ok first, is it just your iPod thats not working with USB 2.0?
First see if another USB appliance works correctly. Make sure you try the same port you tried the iPod in, as i know that one of my USB plugs aint working.

thanks, My ipod can work on another pc(chip 815, usb1.0).
your pc is very enviable!
my pc: C2 1.0ghz, 256mb ram, 80g, Gforc4 mx440....5555~~

USB2.0 is known for being more problematic than firewire when used with the iPOD and HDD's in general. I read a number of heads up testing and the general consesus seems to be that Firewire outperforms and is more reliable and given the choice one should use firewire. Most people's performance is rock solid using Firewire including my own. I would save yourself the hassle and slap a firewire card in for 20 bucks. Another thing I discovered was that USB relies on the system processor which I did not want to do.

yes. the ipod dose not desing for pc at all,but for .mac

hehe :-) , ipod is too expensive in china, 2800RMB! as...$400. 3times my wage. apple is apple!
