Vietnam music

I need some songs that can relate to the 1960's-1975 time period. That can kinda relate to what the country was going through at the time. (hippies, protests, war... anything) thanks!

Get the Forest Gump Soundtrack... It's a pretty good collection (2CDs) of music from the 60s and 70s (and a *little* of 50s and 80s, too).

4. Hush - Deep Purple
5. Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane
6. On the Road again - Canned Heat

10. The Letter - The box tops
11. nowhere to Run - Martha Reeves and the vandellas

Well...this one is a no-brainer. The choices are many.

The Stones
The Doors
Hendrix
Jefferson Airplane
Steppenwolf
The Byrds
The Guess Who
Martha and the Vandellas
Three Dog Night
The Band
Joe Cocker
Procol Harum
Zombies
Canned Heat
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (...and probably the most important of any such music you turn up, pay very special attention to "Ohio" and 04May1970 Kent State University. God knows we paid dearly enough for it)

...and those are only a few of the ones I remember from those days just off the top of my head...the list goes on and on and on.

....sT

PS added later -- Please tell me this is not part of some notion in which you wish to liken Nam to the present situation in the Mid-East. Such comparisons are tired, false, and worst of all...insulting.

If you haven't seen it, go and rent "Woodstock: The Director's Cut" 3.75 hours of what things were like in the 60s. Won an Academy Award for best Documentary.

I would recommend "Question" by The Moody Blues. It's on the iTMS.

Also, I second CSN and (sometimes) Y. Good songs: Ohio, Wooden Ships, Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, Long Time Gone, Southern Man, Teach Your Children, and Find the Cost of Freedom.

Lastly, for IMO the best Protest song, Look for Country Joe McDonald's "I Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin-to-Die" rag. It's on this Boxed set: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002J07/qid=1085285753/sr=8-3/ref=pd_ka_3/002-5776988-4472827?v=glance&s=music&n=507846
Complete with the "Fish" cheer.

IMO, the period of time you mention produced the Best Music of the 20th Century (at least, on the popular side). Rock and Roll just hasn't been the same after that time frame...

The Times They Are A Changin' - Bob Dylan

Possibly the finest protest album of all time.

Hmmmm...

While both are good on their own merits, neither really fit the criterion of what Armless seeks. As both were nearly ten years or more after the end of the war, they don't really qualify.
