Is there a small, simple file browser for iPod? EvilDude?
What I'm thinking of is this: a small app to be kept on my 64 MB USB drive, so that I can simply plug in the USB drive, plug in the iPod, run the app off the USB drive, and mount the iPod as the humungous portable drive that it is.
Is there anything like this out there already?
If not, anyone feel like coding one? :D

Can't you just set the iPod to disk mode and use explorer? Or is it for the purpose of playing music (simply) as well?

Yeah, like mikePod says, use Windows Explorer.
Also, if you have an app that can run off a USB thumb drive, why not just run it off the iPod instead? Why carry around two devices?

Doesn't the iPod need installation of software to be recognised as a drive?
I'm talking about an app that would enable me to just use the iPod for filestorage at a friend's house without needing to install drivers.

no drivers needed. only firewire / usb2 connection on the computer. For adding music to the db you can have a small program on the iPod like vPod or ephPod.

I'll look into having vPod on the iPod. Thanks!

looks like I'm a bit late on the scene, but yeah, it gets recognised fine on 2k/XP although I'm not too sure about 98...

Of course, I'm only now remembering that I'll be needing a USB cable, as I know few non-Mac people with firewire.
