Eupod volume boost vs Itunes Volume Boost
Hi all,
With the problems with Eupod Volume Boost under Itunes 4.5 I was wondering, is there any difference between what Eupod does, and the volume boost in Itunes?
In other words, if I select all of my songs in Itunes, and then right click on them and boost the volume to +40 within Itunes then resync, will that achieve exactly the same effect as Eupod volume boost?
If that's the case then I guess there's no need for Eupod volume boost if you are using Itunes, except possibly to avoid a one time resync of all your files?
thanks
Patrick.

Exactly what I was thinking! Boosting the vol. in itunes seems to achieve the same effect on the ipod as Eupod does. It took a long time to resync the whole collection but that's a once-only thing. Also my ipod kept resyncing anyway with eupod. Before the volume was too low with my Sony MDR-EX71 headphones but it sounds fine now. Just have to remember to up the volume each time I rip a CD.:)

but AFAIK, eupod only changes a few database entry's and itunes changes the whole mp3-file... thats not good

I've used euPOD since i found it and it works great since it doesn't change the mp3-file.
Look at http://www.ringom.no/espen/ipod/

Yeah, im a nice guy :P
Anyways, u need to turn off auto-sync to avoid resync.
Im not sure what itunes does, but itunes use a lot of time altering the volume, and euPOD dont, so either its extreme bad programming from apple, or its diffrent. I dunno.
Anyways, I guess u can rather use the Itunes boost if you have resync probs. euPOD was released long time before itunes was released so back then it was the only freeware option.
If you dont use mp3gain, use itunes boost if u have probs with resync. I love mp3gain, and use that with euPOD.

Oki, ive checked this a little more, and ive found out that ITUNES DO ALTER YOUR MP3 files, and euPOD dont.
Just try to volumeboost with itunes, compare the size before and after. Its diffrent. Try with euPOD, its not diffrent.
Thats why euPOD takes 2 sec and itunes takes aaaaaaaaaaaages.
By the way, version 1.3.1 build 215 is out, just some small improvements. (released yesterday)
Im also on EFNET on irc in channel #eupod to assist people for online help, questions and stuff.

I use the volume boost in iTunes. I've read in this thread that it changes the mp3 file. If I change the volume boost back to 0, will the mp3 file return to normal? Or is the file changed forever?

The volume boost in iTunes only changes song play in iTunes. It does not change the song permanently. iTunes does have a 'help' section you could use.
