The glory of Anapod v8.5.5! (Bug fix, hooray!)
As of last week, I was having some serious issues (http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31599) with Anapod Explorer v8.5.4: it showed that my iPod had, at that time, fourteen hundred-odd songs on it, but none of those songs were visible on the iPod itself, and the "Recover Missing Tracks" utility didn't work, either.
After emailing back and forth with redchairsoftware (and, in the meantime, having to use EphPod, which crashes all the time on my computer), the solution came tonight -- according to the email, there was "a failed function call (that only happens on Windows ME [and Win98SE, my OS]) that was mistakenly causing Anapod to flush its database of tracks," but, with the release of v8.5.5, that's been fixed. I'm so happy! I don't know that this has affected anyone else, but I was really bummed when Anapod stopped working after I went from trial to full version, and I'm thrilled that the issue's been resolved. Hooray for red! :)

I am very disappointed by this last version! Because, now everytime I want to refresh my morphlists, the requirements box is empty and even though I fill it out to match the specific songs - no matches are found to those conditions!!..this is so annoying...
and I just don't understand how they can't just simply make these morphlists auto-update themselves..... :(

I upgraded to 8.5.5 but find it takes ages to connect to my ipod, like 25 seconds, whereas 8.5.4 connected in about 5 seconds. I'll go back to 8.5.4, didn't have any problems with it.

You know, I'd noticed that, too, and had chalked it up to iTunesDB being considerably larger than the last time I'd connected to Anapod without error (I'd been using EphPod to add songs after v8.5.4 kept flushing the DB). Guess not! I can handle waiting an extra twenty seconds if it means my songs are actually going to show up on my iPod, though; I nearly had a heart attack the first time I ran v8.5.4 and the Explorer window came up empty. And EphPod? Yeah, not so much a fan of that; it's pretty crash-happy.
Then again, I have approximately the oldest computer in the world and it's running Win98SE, so I really shouldn't be surprised when things don't work. I can't wait until December, when I can hopefully upgrade to a new laptop. December, December, December! :D

Major delay with 8.5.5 for me as well, compared to the previous version that linked up in under five seconds. We're talking 20-30 seconds like you mentioned now. And yes, I let the drive letter show up in XP before trying to connect.

I've got the same problem with 8.5.5, but it takes literaly about 3 - 4 minutes to connect and has other issues (on XP box). Went back to 8.5.3 and it connects in about 8 secs - somethings going on- I e-mailed them, but haven't heard back yet.
Update: I reported it to RedChair back when I sent this post and also referred to the fact that others on this forum were having similar problems. I explained that it wasn't a problem with 8.5.3. Two days later I got a response asking what my connect time was with 8.5.3 and I told the them: about 8 seconds. Haven't heard back since -- so.. if you got the problem, let'em know.

I've always had 10-30 second connect times when I connect with Anapod. I figured that's just the way it is for me with 17GB of tunes in my iPod... ;)

I'm also experiencing extremely long connection times. More to the point, I'm getting even longer disconnecting times! Oh well, on to the next revision ...
The visual and speed improvements in 8.5.4 were very welcome: please keep up the good work!

Extremely long (3-4 minute connect times maybe longer) with 8.5.5.
I'm Also having freezes during transfer. I reverted back to 8.5.4 and it works fine. I assume the next update will address this.
Everyone did report their problems to Red, right??

Wow, weird... my connection times may be twenty-five or thirty seconds, which is twenty or twenty-five seconds slower than connection times with earlier versions, but it's nowhere near what you guys are describing! It takes a little longer than it used to, but I'm able to connect/disconnect just fine, and I've yet to experience freezing during transfer (knock on wood!). I wonder what causes the difference in connection times between users...
